Cognitive Caring - Specialized Geriatric Psychiatry

Logo for Cognitive Caring, emphasizing brain and human care.

Our Story

Cognitive Caring PLLC was founded to provide specialized geriatric psychiatry and memory care services for older adults in New Hampshire. After years of clinical experience treating depression, anxiety, dementia-related behavioral symptoms, and complex medical-psychiatric conditions in aging populations, we recognized the need for a practice devoted exclusively to the mental health care for older adults. Too often, seniors navigating cognitive decline or late-life mood disorders encounter fragmented or impersonal systems of care. Cognitive Caring was created to offer something different: seasoned psychiatric care for aging minds — care that is clinically precise, deeply thoughtful, and tailored to the unique needs of later life.

Our approach integrates comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, evidence-based treatment, and careful medication management designed specifically for seniors. We collaborate closely with families, primary care providers, neurologists, and other local healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and compassionate support. Aging brings wisdom and resilience, but it may also bring memory changes, behavioral disturbances, grief, insomnia, and medical complexity that require specialized expertise. Here, care is unrushed, respectful, and grounded in preserving identity, independence, and dignity at every stage of life.

Our Vision

Our vision is to elevate the standard of mental health care for older adults and individuals experiencing cognitive decline throughout New Hampshire. We believe that geriatric psychiatric care for aging minds should be both clinically rigorous and profoundly humane — rooted in neuroscience, guided by empathy, and delivered with the steadiness that aging minds deserve.

We strive to be a trusted resource for families navigating Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia, late-life depression, anxiety disorders, and behavioral symptoms of dementia. Through collaboration with community physicians, specialists, and local organizations, we aim to create an integrated network of support for seniors and caregivers alike, particularly in the realm of memory care services.

Beyond clinical care, Cognitive Caring PLLC is committed to community education, caregiver guidance, and reducing stigma surrounding mental health care for older adults and cognitive disorders in later life. Our long-term vision is a New Hampshire community where aging minds are supported proactively, families feel informed and empowered, and psychiatric care reflects both scientific excellence and deep respect for lives well lived.

Why the Ginkgo

At Cognitive Caring PLLC, every element of our brand is intentional. The ginkgo leaf is not decorative — it is symbolic. The ginkgo tree (Ginkgo biloba) is one of the oldest living tree species in the world. It has endured for more than 200 million years, surviving ice ages, environmental change, and even atomic devastation. Its resilience mirrors the human capacity for adaptation across a lifetime, much like the adaptability needed in our memory care services.

A Symbol of Longevity

The ginkgo has long been associated with longevity, vitality, and endurance. In a practice devoted to mental health care for older adults, this symbolism matters.

A Subtle Reflection of the Brain

Look closely at a ginkgo leaf and you will notice its gentle bilateral symmetry. Its fan-shaped form quietly echoes the two hemispheres of the brain. This is intentional. Cognitive Caring is devoted to protecting and supporting cognitive health — memory, reasoning, mood, personality, and identity. Our psychiatric care for aging minds draws inspiration from the ginkgo’s structure, providing a natural metaphor for balance, integration, and thoughtful care.

Strength with Grace

The ginkgo tree is remarkably strong, yet its leaves are delicate and graceful. That balance reflects our philosophy of care:

Clinically rigorous

Scientifically grounded

Compassionately delivered

Respectful of dignity

We believe mental health care for older adults should be both strong and gentle.

Rooted in Meaning

In many cultures, the ginkgo represents hope, peace, and continuity across generations. Families often plant ginkgo trees to mark milestones or to honor loved ones. Our memory care services exist for that same reason — to support individuals and families navigating the cognitive and emotional transitions of later life with clarity, steadiness, and respect.

The Ginkgo and Our Promise

The ginkgo leaf in our logo is more than a design element. It represents:

Longevity

Resilience

Memory

Balance

Dignity

It reflects our commitment to psychiatric care for aging minds — and to honoring every story entrusted to us.
